RULES &
REGULATIONS

1. Registration 

1.1. To participate, please complete the form available on www.k-showtime.be/dancecontest.

1.2. Each group will designate a team captain with whom we will communicate if necessary.

1.3. Groups wishing to participate must be of minimum 2 and maximum 7 dancers.

1.4. Each participant may register only once.

1.5. Once you have completed your registration, you will receive an email confirming your registration. Please note that places are limited. Once the maximum number of participants has been reached, you will no longer be able to register.

1.6. The duration of the performance must be minimum 2 minutes long and may not exceed

3 minutes, with a flexibility of approximately 15 seconds. During these 2-3 minutes,

at least 1 minute must be a cover of an existing K-pop dance. You are of course perfectly

allowed to do a 3-minute cover.

1.7. You have until August 26 at 11:59 p.m. to register. 

1.8. All performances must be accompanied by a soundtrack in .mp3 or .wav format, which is to be sent over to info.kshowtime@gmail.com before September 3 at 11:59 pm. The music must be of Korean origin or include Korean vocals/rap. The organizers have the right to refuse files of insufficient quality.

2. Schedule for the day

2.1. Doors open at 10 h 30. (Subject to change)

2.2. Each group must present itself at the registration desk at least 1 h before the competition to confirm their presence and receive the running order.

2.3. There will be no on-stage rehearsals prior to the competition.

2.4. Having been informed of the running order in advance, each group must be present backstage at least 3 performances before theirs.

2.5. The running order will be decided randomly, it is not possible to choose or switch.

2.6. After their performance, participants are allowed to leave the backstage area, but must return as soon as the deliberations are over.

2.7. After the awards ceremony, groups may request the jury's score sheets from the registration desk.


 

3. Theme

3.1. All groups will receive the same theme : STORY WITH A TWIST.

3.2. The application of this theme is subject to each group's interpretation. However, note that the jury must be able to perceive the theme through your performance.

3.3. If at least 2 members of the jury consider that the performance presented does not respect the theme, the group will have points deducted. 

 

4. Jury and scoring criteria

4.1. The jury is composed of 3 dancers.

4.2 It is forbidden to communicate with the jury before or during the competition.

4.3. Participants agree to respect the ranking established by the jury.

4.4. Performances will be evaluated according to the following criteria :

  • Technique (35%) : synchronization, energy, cleanliness and delivery of movements & formations, and use of space ;

  • Performance (35%) : originality/creativity, audience impact, respect for the theme ;

  • Costumes (10%) ;

  • Overall impression (20%).

5. Award ceremony

5.1. The rankings will be announced after the juries' performances.

5.2. The ranking is simple: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

5.3. Winners will receive a trophy on stage.

5.4. The jury may decide to include a People's Choice Award or a Special Jury Prize. These do not  have to be accompanied by an award.
 

6. Code of conduct 

6.1. An attitude of fair play and respect is essential, both towards the coach/teacher, teammates/dance partners, and towards judges and opponents.

  • Respect your opponents: without them, there would be no competition.

  • Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat.

6.2. Enjoy the competition and applaud your opponents when they perform well.

6.3. Respect the backstage area and the infrastructure in general, and keep the premises  (backstage, toilets, dance floor etcetera) clean.

6.4. Any inappropriate and/or dangerous behavior is strictly forbidden. Any use of edged weapons, firearms, flammable, explosive or corrosive products that could harm others or the equipment provided is also forbidden.

6.5. Launching objects like glitter, paper or confetti is authorized only in cases where the organizers have given written authorization prior to the convention.

6.6. Any object, music, video or behavior of a racist, pornographic or strongly sexual nature is forbidden. Performances must be open to the public, including children. Any

infringement of these prohibitions will result in the immediate exclusion of the participant(s) from the competition.

6.7. By participating, participants agree to abide by the above rules, and accept all photographic, film and sound exploitation during and after the convention.
