RULES &
REGULATIONS

1. Battle Preselections 

1.1 Participants in the battle preselections must be present at 1 p.m. at the entrance.

1.2 To take part in the preselections, please fill in the form available at www.k-showtime.be/dancebattle. 

1.3 Each participant must register in the "Girl Group", "Boy Group" or "Freestyle" categories.

1.4 Registration in the "Girl Group" AND "Boy Group" categories is not permitted, however, it is possible to register in one of the two as well as in "Freestyle". 

1.5 In each category, there is a limit of 24 participants who can register.

1.6 Boy/Girl Group: 

  • For the preselections, each participant will have to learn a list of 7 choreographies imposed by the organizers, as well as a different optional choreography (including a verse and a chorus and with a minimal length of 1 minute). In total, this represents a total of 8 choreographies to learn.

  • The battles will take place over 3 rounds: 

  • For the first round, participants will be free to choose their own song to compete with; 

  • For the second round, each challenger will be given one of 7 songs imposed by the organizers; 

  • For the final round, all challengers will dance to one and the same song imposed by the organizers. 

  • All information about the compulsory songs can be found on kshowtime.be.

  • Please submit your audio file in .mp3 or .wav format to info.kshowtime@gmail.com by August 19, 2023 at 11:59 p.m., cut to the correct minutes. Please name the file according to the following format: {Stage Name - Round 1} (For example: {Chicken Squad - Round 1}). 

1.7 Freestyle: 

  • Participants will compete individually and freestyle on Korean music, inspired by street dance battles. Please note that it is not allowed to copy the original choreography of the songs.

1.8 If there's a tie, participants will have to dance again, this time to the song assigned to their opponent, so that the judges can make their final choice.

1.9 The order of performance will be randomized; it is not possible to choose the order of performance or to switch with one of the other participants.

1.10 Following the preselections, the final 8 contestants in each category will have the opportunity to battle it out on D-Day for the title of K-Showtime Battles Queen or King.

1.11 During the battles, all participants are expected to stay in the perimeter until the end of the competition.

2. The Battles @K-Showtime

2.1 Details of the day's proceedings will be announced in due time. 

2.2 Boy Group/Girl Group: 

  • Each participant will have to learn a list of 6 choreographies imposed by the organizers as well as 1 choreography of their own choice (including a verse and a chorus, with a minimum duration of 1 minute). In all, there are 7 choreographies to learn.

  • It is possible for participants to reuse the same song of their choice as for the preselections.  

  • The battles will take place over 3 rounds, comprising quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals.

  • In the ¼ final, participants will be free to choose their own song to compete with; 

  • In the ½ final, each challenger will have to dance on one of the 6 songs imposed by the organizers; 

  • In the final, each challenger will have to dance on one of the 6 songs imposed by the organizers.

  • Please submit an audio file in .mp3 or .wav format to info.kshowtime@gmail.com by September 6, 2023 at 11:59 p.m., cut to the correct minutes. Please name the file according to the following format: {Scene Name - Quarter} (for example: {Chicken Squad - Quarter}). 

2.3 Freestyle: 

  • Participants will compete individually and freestyle to Korean music, inspired by street dance battles. Please note that it is not allowed to copy the original choreography of the songs.

3. Jury and voting 

3.1 Juries will be different for the preselections and for the battles on K-Showtime. For each stage, a jury of 3 impartial dancers will evaluate the performances. 

3.2 They will show who they think deserves to win the battle by pointing to that participant.

3.3 If they can't decide between the 2 challengers, they form an "X" with their arms.

3.4 Votes are cast without malicious judgment. 

3.5 Each vote represents the judge's own opinion and must be respected.

 

4. Code of conduct

4.1. An attitude of fairplay and respect is essential, whether towards your coach, teacher, team-mates or dance partners, or towards judges and opponents.

  • Respect your opponents: without them, there would be no competition.

  • Lose with modesty and win with humility.

4.2 Enjoy the competition, and applaud your opponents when they perform well. 

4.3 Respect the backstage area and the infrastructure in general, and keep the premises (backstage, toilets, dance floor, etc.) clean.

4.4 Any inappropriate and/or dangerous behavior is strictly forbidden. Any use of edged weapons, firearms, flammable, explosive or corrosive products that could harm others or the equipment provided will also be forbidden.

4.5 Racist, homophobic, violent or strongly sexual behavior is forbidden. Please maintain an acceptable attitude in order to preserve a good environment for all. Any breach of these prohibitions will result in immediate exclusion from the event. 

4.6 By taking part, participants agree to abide by these rules, and accept all photographic, film and sound exploitation during and after the convention.
